Funding Information

A maximum of SEK 12,000 can be awarded for sample translation and mentorship projects. For other initiatives, applicants can apply for grants to cover actual project costs.

Eligible Activities

Grants can be used to cover costs related to work activities that aim to enhance the quality of translations of Swedish literature and drama. Eligible activities include:

  • Participation in festivals, conferences, seminars, fairs, workshops, or travel related to specific translation work.
  • Mentorship collaboration between an established translator and a mentee, where the mentor applies for the grant.
  • Sample translations intended for publishers or theatres for potential publication or performance.

Projects must be related to works published in Sweden, written in Swedish or a national minority language, and must not be translations via another language.

Ineligible Activities

Grants cannot be used for the following activities:

  • Work with textbooks, Festschrifts, homage volumes, sheet music, specialised scholarly works, reference books, cookbooks, and similar materials.
  • Sample translations already under contract for publication.
  • Travel or activities that have already occurred.

Eligibility Criteria

Professional translators of Swedish literature and drama are eligible to apply for the grants.
